Cambodia to Commission First Wind Power Plant by 2026

  • Cambodia will launch its first wind farm, a 150 MW project in Mondulkiri, by 2026, alongside other wind initiatives totalling 900 MW.
  • The projects support Cambodia’s goal of 70% renewable power by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.

Cambodia will commission its first wind power plant, a 150-MW facility in Mondulkiri province, by 2026. The government has signed an agreement with Hong Kong–based HK Oasis Power to develop the project, which will mark the country’s entry into wind energy generation.

Singapore-based The Blue Circle, in partnership with Cambodia’s Royal Group, is also developing a 100-MW wind park. In December 2024, the government signed an implementation agreement with Southeast Asian renewable developer Leader Energy for another 150-MW onshore wind project in Mondulkiri, scheduled for completion in 2027.

In October 2024, Cambodia announced that wind power would be integrated into the national grid by 2026. Six wind projects under development will add a combined 900 MW of capacity.

These initiatives form part of Cambodia’s energy strategy to raise the share of renewables in power generation to 70% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
