JA Solar Wins Uzbekistan Module Contract

  • JA Solar signed a supply agreement with Larsen & Toubro to deliver photovoltaic modules for ACWA Power’s project in Uzbekistan.
  • The projects will support Uzbekistan’s renewable energy goals by supplying clean power and reducing carbon emissions at the utility scale.

JA Solar signed a module supply agreement with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the EPC contractor for the Samarkand 1 and 2 Solar PV Power Plants in Uzbekistan. The company will also supply all required photovoltaic modules for the two utility-scale projects, strengthening its position in Central Asia’s energy transition.

Meanwhile, ACWA Power is developing the Samarkand plants, which have a combined capacity of 1.2 GWp, in the Samarkand region. Once operational, the facilities will generate electricity for roughly 600,000 households and offset 1.4 million tonnes of CO₂ annually. The projects directly support Uzbekistan’s target of sourcing 25 per cent of national electricity from renewables by 2030.

Furthermore, the collaboration among ACWA Power, L&T and JA Solar demonstrates a shared commitment to bankable and high-performance solar assets in emerging markets. The projects will also support local employment, infrastructure development and grid stability across the region.

JA Solar’s Executive President Aiqing Yang welcomed the agreement and affirmed confidence in the company’s high-efficiency module technology. He stated that the modules will maximise energy yield in diverse environments and meet stringent performance and delivery standards for large-scale deployment.

JA Solar stated that it will continue to collaborate with international developers and EPC partners to deliver reliable PV solutions and foster sustainable market growth in Central Asia and other key regions.
