RWE Commissions 200 MW Solar Storage Project in US

RWE has commissioned the Stoneridge Solar project in Milam County, Texas. The facility generates 200 MW of solar power and 100 MW/200 MWh of battery storage. It enhances grid reliability and provides cost-competitive, clean electricity to Texans.

Andrew Flanagan, CEO of RWE Clean Energy, stated that the project demonstrates the value of strong local partnerships. He said it also strengthens national energy security. He noted that Stoneridge Solar supports economic growth while providing homegrown, scalable clean energy.

Construction created more than 200 jobs. The project now supports permanent operational roles. It will also generate millions in tax revenue for Milam County and the Thorndale Independent School District. The funding will support first responders and education projects, including renovations at Thorndale Elementary School and work with the local volunteer fire department.

Meanwhile, Shannon Morrison, Principal of Thorndale Elementary School, said the company’s support has made a direct impact. She said the school appreciates RWE’s continued contribution.

The project advances RWE’s goal of accelerating U.S. energy independence. With this addition, RWE’s total U.S. capacity has passed 11 GW. The company stated that this milestone strengthens its position as a reliable provider of affordable, clean energy.
