Empower New Energy has signed a partnership deal with Barry Callebaut Group to deploy solar PV panels on their manufacturing site. The Barry Callebaut Group is the world’s leading producer of chocolate and cocoa products, with headquarters in Zurich.
The plant, consisting of a 640kWp capacity, will be financed fully by Empower New Energy. It will include the PV installations on the part of the rooftop and installing solar panels on the carport structures of the company’s parking lot.
Barry Callebaut sources its raw products from several countries in West Africa, including Ghana. In Ghana, they have a cocoa processing facility in Tema, which will be the site of this project. Barry Callebaut is committed to making sustainable chocolate the norm by 2025 and strongly focuses on sustainability and a strategy to reduce its carbon footprint throughout its supply chain, which is one of its principal interests in this project.
