France and India Adopts Joint Roadmap on Green Hydrogen

On Tuesday, the “Indo-French Roadmap on the Development of Green Hydrogen” was adopted by the Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister R K Singh and France’s Minister of State for Development, Francophonie International Partnerships Chrysoula Zacharopoulou. A message from the French Embassy affirmed that both countries believed in the potential of decarbonised hydrogen to decarbonise the economy. 

The adoption of this mandate to foster bilateral cooperation on hydrogen was set on 4th May 2022 on the occasion of President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting in Paris. This mandate aims to bring the French and Indian hydrogen ecosystems together in other to establish a reliable and sustainable value chain for decarbonised hydrogen and to set the pace on a global stage.

Minister Chrysoula Zacharopoulou said, “Today, I am proud to open this ambitious new chapter in Indo-French partnership for the planet. France and India are teaming up to power the decarbonised hydrogen industry of the future.” She appreciated the adoption came a few weeks ahead of COP27, sending a strong message of commitment to decarbonise their economies. The ambitious roadmap would help the countries accelerate their clean energy transitions and meet our carbon neutrality targets.
