  • Veritas SA of the French Bureau has been selected to provide project certification services for SSE Renewables Project.
  • Phase two of the Arklow Bank Wind Park will require an investment of EUR 2.5 billion.

Veritas SA of the French Bureau has been selected to provide project certification services for SSE Renewables’ up to 800 MW Arklow Bank Wind Park Phase wind project in Irish waters.

After SSE Renewables conducted a competitive tender process, the contract was then awarded to Veritas. The financial details of the project were kept private.

The French inspection and certification services group will be responsible for the project certification during the design phase. Its scope of work covers wind turbines, foundations, towers and sub-stations.

Arklow Bank Wind Park Phase 2 is a continuation of the 25.2-MW Arklow Bank wind park, built in 2003/04 and owned by GE Energy. The new wind farm will be located off the County Wicklow coastline, eastern Ireland, expanding the existing seven-turbine complex. SSE Renewables plans to bring the second plant online by 2028.

Phase two of the Arklow Bank Wind Park will require an investment of EUR 2.5 billion. The project was awarded a maritime area consent (MAC) in December 2022.

The up-to-62-turbine complex is expected to produce electricity for close to 850,000 homes annually.
