- Nigeria’s combined crude oil and condensate output rose 2.34% to 1.717 million barrels per day in September.
- Daily production peaked at 1.84 million barrels, while crude oil output averaged 1.53 million barrels per day.
- Nigeria exceeded its 1.5 million-barrel OPEC quota for the fifth consecutive month.
Nigeria increased its combined crude oil and condensate production by 2.34 per cent to 1.717 million barrels per day in September, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The regulator’s data showed that combined output peaked at 1.84 million barrels per day during the month. Production fell to 1.68 million barrels per day on its lowest-producing day.
Nigeria Exceeds OPEC Production Quota
NUPRC Head of Media and Corporate Communications Eniola Akinkuotu said Nigeria averaged 1.53 million barrels of crude oil daily in September, excluding condensates.
That output represented 102 per cent of Nigeria’s OPEC quota of 1.5 million barrels per day. The country exceeded its allocation by 30,000 barrels daily.
September marked Nigeria’s fifth consecutive month of meeting or exceeding its OPEC crude oil production quota. The country produced 1.53 million barrels daily in May, 1.55 million in June, 1.51 million in July and 1.5 million in August.
Stable Operations Support Production Growth
The NUPRC attributed September’s improved output to stable operations across most producing assets. It also reported no major pipeline outages during the period.
The regulator said these conditions improved production uptime and crude evacuation efficiency. These gains helped operators sustain production across the upstream petroleum sector.
Nigeria’s oil industry has faced persistent challenges, including crude theft, pipeline vandalism, operational disruptions and difficulties evacuating crude from producing fields.
The commission said operators and other industry stakeholders had continued improving operational efficiency and maintaining oil-producing assets. It added that these efforts supported more reliable production.
Forcados and Bonny Lead Terminal Output
Forcados Terminal recorded the highest average output among the listed terminals and streams, producing 320,320 barrels per day in September.
Bonny Terminal followed with an average of 303,270 barrels per day.
