Saipem to Install 62km of Subsea Infrastructure
Saipem has secured an offshore contract worth approximately $350 million from Azule Energy Angola S.p.A. in Angola. The contract covers the West Hub Tails project within the wider Agogo Integrated West Hub Development.
The development sits about 180 kilometres offshore Angola in water depths reaching 1,750 metres. Under the contract, Saipem will manage engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation activities. The scope includes about 62 kilometres of flowlines, risers and umbilicals connected to the Agogo Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit.
Meanwhile, Saipem expects the project to run for approximately two and a half years. The company will execute several subsea engineering and construction stages before starting the offshore installation campaign.
Project To Support Local Capabilities
Saipem will conduct fabrication activities at its Ambriz yard in Angola. The company will involve local companies and workers throughout the project. Consequently, the Ambriz operations will strengthen local capabilities and support activity across Angola’s energy services sector.
For offshore installation, Saipem will deploy its FDS and Normand Maximus construction vessels. These vessels will support installation activities across the deepwater development.
Contract Strengthens Saipem’s Regional Position
The contract strengthens Saipem’s position as an engineering and construction partner for complex offshore projects. It also expands the company’s involvement in Angola’s deepwater energy sector.
Furthermore, the project adds another major offshore development to Saipem’s regional portfolio. Deepwater projects require specialised engineering, subsea installation expertise and strong project execution capabilities.
Therefore, the contract also supports Angola’s efforts to develop local industrial capabilities alongside offshore energy infrastructure.
