  • The company combines clean energy deployment with skills development and local enterprise support, aiming to reach 100 million people by 2030.

Schneider Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable electricity across Sub-Saharan Africa at the ARE Energy Access Investment Forum 2026. The company showcased decentralised energy solutions designed to address the region’s persistent energy access gap.

Data from the International Energy Agency shows that over 666 million people globally still lack access to electricity, with most located in Sub-Saharan Africa. In response, Schneider Electric is scaling distributed renewable energy systems such as mini-grids and off-grid solar solutions to reach remote and underserved communities where grid expansion remains limited.

Ayush Gupta stated that energy access must go beyond infrastructure. He emphasised that the company integrates electrification efforts with vocational training and support for small businesses to drive sustainable economic outcomes.

During the forum, Schneider Electric presented solar-powered technologies designed for households, healthcare facilities, schools, and small enterprises in off-grid areas. It also introduced its Climate Smart Village model, which combines renewable energy with local economic activities such as irrigation and small-scale processing to improve livelihoods.

Ifeanyi Odoh highlighted that reliable electricity can unlock economic opportunities and strengthen community resilience.

Schneider Electric reported that its initiatives have already reached over 61 million people globally. The company is now working toward a target of 100 million beneficiaries by 2030, reinforcing its role in advancing decentralised energy solutions across Africa.
