The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved Sherifat Adegbenro as the acting chief executive officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) Plc. The regulator said the appointment ensures leadership continuity until the company selects a substantive CEO.
NERC’s statement reads: “Aligned with the Code of Corporate Governance for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, this appointment ensures leadership continuity pending the DisCo’s appointment of a substantive CEO.”
Before her promotion, Adegbenro served as EKEDC’s deputy CEO. She previously held the position of chief audit and compliance officer. She will replace Wola Joseph-Condotti, who has acted as interim CEO since January 2026.
EKEDC, one of Nigeria’s 11 electricity distribution companies, provides electricity to customers in southern Lagos and parts of Ogun State. The company emerged from the unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and was privatised in 2013.
